Tokyo arrival

The flight took off about on time and was uneventful. Which of course is just how one would like flights to be. Flying time was just over 13 hours. We had lunch soon after take off once we’d settled down and then – because of the 8 hour time difference – we had breakfast a couple of hours before we landed.

The flight took us across Europe, over Afghanistan and then over the Gobi desert and across China . We had a great view of Beijing at night.

First view of Japan as we start our descent

Just before landing we completed the immigration paperwork (with the help of Google translate, which I think we will be making good use of over the coming days)

There was a long queue to get through passport control but after that everything went very smoothly. We had a transfer organised to take us to our hotel and we were soon there. Unfortunately we can’t check in until 14.00 and we were there about 09.00. So we left the luggage there and went out to explore.

Plan for the rest of the day is lunch, have a rest, have a few beers and an early night. I’m hoping to find a way to watch Everton v Arsenal which kicks off at 20.30 our time.

We have a full day of sightseeing tomorrow, with a guide.

I'm nearly 60 and approaching semi-retirement .... so more time for projects and getting to grips with technology!
